Our lodge is situated just 15 minutes from the Macha Roost, the largest dove roost in Cordoba. This roost alone is home to an estimated 20 million doves—a number that continues to increase each year. Many hunters visit for the thrill of shooting these fast, high-flying doves, a challenge that keeps them coming back year after year.
With a total dove population exceeding 50 million, no bag limits, and a year-round open season, Cordoba remains a premier location for dove hunters from around the world.
Salta Argentina Dove and Pigeon shooting is and incredible experience. Large amounts of wheat, sorghum, soybeans, corn and peanut fields make this a top destination for high volume doves and pigeons. The scouts are constantly scouting throughout the valley in search of the dove flyways to offer you the most incredible dove shooting you will ever experience. The dove season runs year round. The pigeon shooting runs May to August with a bird bag hunting limit of 200 per hunter per day.
Typically, you will have breakfast at 7:00 am each morning, with departure to the fields at 8:00 am. The drive is usually around thirty minutes. When you arrive at the field, your bird boy will be awaiting you with your blind set up, guns ready and cold drinks available.
If you are a well-seasoned shooter, it will be no problem to have a sore shoulder at the end of the day. There are numerous options allowing a different shoot each day.
After the morning shoot, the group will move to a close by shaded area for lunch in the field. This will be world-class argentine asado (bbq), offering incredible wonderful argentine beef, chorizo sausages, chicken, dove-breast from the morning shoot, fresh baked breads, salads and beer or wine. Cots and hammocks are ready after lunch for a quick siesta (nap) before resuming the afternoon shoot.
Tucumán and Santiago del Estero provinces provide a variety of shooting roosts, feeding fields with crops, water holes, and sugar cane ranches, that will challenge our hunters daily. The type of hunt will also vary according to weather conditions, agriculture calendar, harvesting, and time of the year.
Its not just about the high volume of dove but also the fine hospitality, lodging, food, and attention to every detail that makes this a first class experience.
Our proximity to the hunting grounds allows us to return to the lodge for lunch and rest before the afternoon hunt. Driving to any dove field will take between 10 and 25 minutes.
The massive population of doves makes this region an extremely wild and impressive spot for hunters. In this rich environment with farmland, doves have found an ideal space for proliferation and have multiplied to an overwhelming extent.
As dove populations have severely increased in number making them harmful to agriculture, dove hunting has become an important component to control overpopulation. In addition, it provides valuable employment for the local communities.
Depending on the time of the season, pigeon hunting trips can be added to the itinerary upon prior request.
